Work has begun on the new Bellbird Park primary school, with Education Minister Grace Grace joining Member for Bundamba Lance McCallum and Foundation Principal Roger Sheehan to turn the sod today.

The $85.5 million project will deliver state-of-the-art facilities for the start of the next school year in a growing area in South-East Queensland.

Set to feature a multi-purpose hall and an information and resource centre, all classrooms, staff rooms and library spaces will be air conditioned as part of the construction project.

The new school is being delivered by ADCO Constructions and joins the new $75 million Redland Bay primary school as one of two new state schools to be built for the 2024 school year.

During today's visit, Minister Grace announced Roger Sheehan as Bellbird Park's foundation principal, while Sue Hendriks will open the gates at Redland Bay in 2024.

The construction of these new schools will support 97 full-time jobs across the life of both projects.

These new schools are being funded through the Palaszczuk Government's $1.9 billion investment in education infrastructure in 2022-23, supporting nearly 4,200 good, secure jobs across Queensland.
