People who drive on Midgen Flat Road at Broken Head will be pleased to hear that next week Council will be giving it some much needed attention.

It's no secret that the section of Midgen Flat Road in the Byron Shire has its fair share of potholes that have been filled, refilled and filled again.

From Monday 1 August work will start on stabilising the road base and once this is done the road will be resealed.

Phil Holloway, Director Infrastructure Services, said Midgen Flat Road is a major connecting road taking traffic from Suffolk Park and Broken Head through to Newrybar and the Hinterland Way.

"People have been complaining about the state of this road for a long time and we agree that it's in poor condition," Mr Holloway said.

"This project is overdue and the stabilisation work followed by the resealing will make for a smoother drive, or ride, for everyone," he said.

The road will remain open to traffic but there will be short delays.

It's expected the work will take around one week to finish.
