Works Progressing On Hughes Creek Road Bridge Upgrade

Works are continuing on the Hughes Creek Road bridge reconstruction at Tarcombe, with the project moving into its final stages and on track for completion in June.

This $429,000 upgrade is part of Council's 2024/25 Capital Works Program and involves replacing an aging bridge structure approximately 7km from the intersection of Highlands Road.

Recent milestones include the completion of piling and abutments, as well as the substructure - the key support system beneath the bridge.

With these critical works finished in April, the project has now moved on to installing the bridge deck, followed by safety barriers and signage.

A temporary crossing remains in place for passenger and emergency vehicles, while larger vehicles should continue using the detour via Highlands Road and the Hume Freeway.

The works will improve safety and remove the existing load limit, making it safer for heavy vehicles and agricultural machinery to cross.

Council thanks the community for their continued patience while these essential works are completed.
