Works to commence at Wolstencroft Reserve

The City of Greater Bendigo will commence works to redevelop the Wolstencroft Reserve on Monday February 15.

City of Greater Bendigo Presentation and Assets Director Brian Westley said the Wolstencroft Reserve is a suburban/township level open space designed to cater for people living within a two kilometre radius and for people who use the Back Creek walking and cycling trail.

"The Wolstencroft Reserve is located on a former quarry that was filled some time ago and the project will commence with remediation works to increase the thickness of the current cap of the former quarry site in line with current EPA requirements," said Mr Westley.

"The remediation works will be in progress from February until early May and will take place weekdays between the hours of 7am and 6pm and 8am and 1pm on Saturdays.

"When this work is completed the City will commence works associated with stage 1 of the Wolstencroft Masterplan.

"As part of the remediation works the existing pump track, play space and fun goals will be removed and wood from the existing play space will be salvaged and reused in the new play space.

"The stage 1 work will include landscaping and construction of a new adventure playground and the reinstatement of fun goals.

"Given the constrained nature of the site, the capping works may cause some disruption for residents at times and the reserve will be closed to public access

"The City is excited to commence this project and apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused by the works."
