Tackling ageism together
Friday 1 October is International Day of Older Persons and the first Ageism Awareness Day.
Boroondara is proud to be home to a thriving community of older adults and we recognise the important contribution they make to our community.
We want to celebrate older people as a diverse group, with diverse interests who contribute an enormous amount to our communities, families, organisations and the local economy.
Melbourne's east has an ageing community and we are committed to tackling ageism. With 6 other councils, we have developed a joint campaign to raise awareness about ageism, challenge stereotypes of what it is to be older, and encourage people to speak up and take action.
