Wounding Charge At Maroochydore

Police have charged a man following an alleged wounding at Maroochydore this morning.

Emergency services were called to Ocean Street at 4:20am to reports of a man being stabbed.

Upon arrival, a 20-year-old man was located with serious injuries, and a crime scene was declared.

Officers located a 32-year-old man nearby and took him into custody.

It will be alleged a verbal altercation occurred between the two men, who are not known to each other. The 32-year-old man has then allegedly stabbed the man with a knife causing five wounds to his chest and abdomen.

The 20-year-old Bli Bli man was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

The 32-year-old Maroochydore man has been charged with one count of wounding. He will appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow, 8 June.
