WWF Reports Midway Progress on Plastic Treaty Talks

WWF

At the midway point of the fourth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) to develop an international legally binding treaty to end plastic pollution, WWF issued the following statement from Erin Simon, vice president and head of plastic waste and business:

"Halfway through INC-4, work to streamline the draft text is well underway. We're finally at a point in this process where countries are constructively negotiating but with only three days remaining, the unknowns at times are overshadowing progress.

"While the spirit of collaboration is still alive, it will require a political will to find a way forward and fast. Only then will we have a chance to conclude with an agreement providing us a future free of plastic pollution."
