Wyndham Art Gallery is thrilled to reveal the finalists of the prestigious 2026 Wyndham Art Prize.
The Wyndham Art Prize has again attracted entries from some of the best practicing artists from across Australia.
Wyndham City's Mayor Cr Mia Shaw said: "The Wyndham Art Prize is our Gallery's premier exhibition, each year attracting a high calibre of artists from across the country."
"This annual exhibition provides a fabulous opportunity for local and up-and-coming artists to showcase their works and build their profile."
"The 2026 Wyndham Art Prize attracted more than 700 entries - the highest number since its inception in 2015.
"The curators selected 80 artworks, from artists across Australia, including ten local artists."
"This means that both emerging and established artists from all backgrounds are exhibited side-by-side, a priority for Wyndham Art Gallery," Cr Shaw said.
The exhibition celebrates artistic excellence and innovation across a variety of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, video, drawing, and is known as one of Australia's more inclusive and large‐scale contemporary art prizes, particularly in terms of the number of shortlisted artists and the diversity of artwork.
The artworks are shortlisted on their merits by independent curators and art professionals, with this year's judges including Camille Hannah (past winner), Kendrah Morgan (Head Curator, Heide Museum of Art) and Maya Hodge (Lardil Curator).
The Wyndham Art Prize offers artists a significant platform: national exposure, an opportunity to exhibit, and substantial prize money. The prize categories include: First Prize: $15,000, Second Prize: $10,000, Third Prize: $8,000, Local Emerging Artist Prize (acquisitive): $5,000 and the People's Choice Award: $2,500.
The free exhibition showcasing the finalists artwork will be open from 31 January 2026 until 22nd of March in the newly refurbished Wyndham Art Gallery.
