Wyndham City Hails Q1 Capital Works Milestones

Wyndham City has hit the ground running on an exciting range of projects in the first quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, with new parks, paths, playgrounds and community facilities now complete and many more underway.

Among the highlights is the completion of the $10 million Wyndham Cultural Centre redevelopment, which has delivered new gallery spaces, a modern bar, foyer and amenities; upgrades to seating and improvements to the overall theatre experience; a new entry to the Werribee Library from Wedge Street and more.

We've also filled a vital missing link in Sanctuary Lakes' shared path network with a new three-kilometre concrete path that extends from the bridge over Skeleton Creek near Sunflower Walk to the Hobsons Bay boundary.

Other project highlights include an improved playground offering at Werribee's Latham Street Reserve and upgraded cricket nets at Williams Landing Reserve and Chirnside Park.

Meanwhile, work is well underway on new active open spaces at Fortitude Drive Reserve, Polly Parade Reserve and Holyoake Parade Reserve, with work on stage one of each project on track for completion in late 2025.

We're also busy finalising work on the Little River Road upgrades, a stunning transformation of the visitor experience at the iconic K Road Cliffs and improvements to Possy Newland Reserve and Presidents Park.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Mia Shaw, said this year's capital works program reflected Council's strong commitment to building a liveable, connected and vibrant city.

"We're investing in projects that make a real difference in people's everyday lives - whether it's new spaces to play, safer intersections, upgraded sports facilities, or creating community spaces that improve the way our residents live, play and connect," Cr Shaw said.

"It's fantastic to see the progress we've made in the first three months, and this is just the start."

"We've also commenced or continued work on a number of large-scale projects, including the Doherty's House Café project, stage two of the Jamieson Way Community Centre and Reserve expansion, and major road upgrades at the Tarneit Road and Leakes Road intersection, and K Road between Duncans Road and K Road Cliffs."

"Meanwhile, planning and design work is progressing on the next generation of community facilities, including Riverwalk Community Centre (interim name), Tarneit Indoor Sports Facility, Old Shire Offices refurbishment, and a series of sporting infrastructure upgrades to be delivered through the Wyndham Active Revitalisation Program."

"From playgrounds and community centres to major road upgrades and future sports hubs, these projects are about creating spaces where people can connect, be active, and feel proud of their City."
