Wyndham City is excited to introduce the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Wellbeing Van as part of its early year's services.
In response to community demand and population growth, the MCH Van has been introduced as a proactive and flexible solution to strengthen early years support and improve service access in areas where it's needed most.
The MCH Wellbeing Van aims to offer innovation in service delivery by being able to bring the service directly to the community.
Wyndham City Mayor Cr Mia Shaw said the van will help address the current deficit in infrastructure provision and help reach families who have difficultly accessing services due to their current location, or for those who have difficulty accessing transport.
"The Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Services Unit at Wyndham City provides check-ins for children at key stages to monitor their growth and development, as well as providing parenting, family wellbeing and health information," Cr Shaw said.
"On average, there are 14 babies born every day in Wyndham. Council recognised the demand for MCH visits and wanted to increase accessibility to MCH services."
"The MCH Van will provide the team with further opportunities to connect with the community in harder to reach places and be flexible and responsive to local needs, addressing both current and future demand for MCH across the municipality."
"The aim is to have it reach the community in family-friendly locations such as play groups, children's facilities, aquatic venues and parks. This is achieved by strategically selecting the van's weekly locations to provide Key Ages and Stages appointments, as well as participating in some major community events to engage with families and support primary caregivers in accessing early year's services."
