The wait is over for more than 37,000 Queensland Year 12 graduates who received their final results today.
While formal certificates arrive in the mail from next week, graduates can view their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) results and Overall Position (OP) score online today.
This year is the last time students will receive an OP score as Queensland moves to the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), moving us in line with every other state and territory.
Minister for Education Grace Grace congratulated the class of 2019 on their hard work, with 93% of students achieving a QCE.
"The class of 2019 certainly sent the old system out with a bang, with 18,429 students receiving an OP result," she said.
"This is a wonderful result and a big thanks must go to all the teachers, staff and families who supported the students.
"I'd also like to congratulate the 59.6% of graduates who achieved a VET Certificate or qualification.
"Our year 12 leavers can now start the next chapter of their lives, whether that be studying at university, getting a job or taking up a trade or traineeship.
"I wish them the best of luck and encourage them to follow their passion."
Ms Grace said graduates who may not be satisfied with their results still have options.
"There's no need to be disheartened," she said.
"Anyone whose results aren't what they hoped for can explore alternative ways to enter university and training courses."
Ms Grace said it was the end of an era for the OP model.
"Our graduates were Queensland's foundation Prep students in 2007 and the last cohort to receive an OP rank for tertiary entrance," she said.
"From next year, eligible students will receive an ATAR which will ensure results are as inclusive and fair for students as possible."
Minister for Training and Skills Development Shannon Fentiman commended the 22,503 Year 12 students who achieved a VET Certificate I, II, III or IV qualification.
"I'd encourage all graduates to consider the exciting career an apprenticeship or traineeship can lead to," Ms Fentiman said.
"We have free TAFE for all year 12 graduates as well as free apprenticeships for under 21s across more than 170 qualifications.
"Courses offered are in high priority industries such as hospitality, engineering, aviation and construction, providing opportunities for successful and exciting careers."
QCAA Chief Executive Officer Chris Rider said Certificates of Academic Commendation would be sent to 856 graduates who received Very High Achievement (VHA) in at least 24 semesters of Authority subjects (the equivalent of six VHAs).
"The commendation is the first category to be awarded in the annual Queensland Certificate of Education Achievement Awards," Mr Rider said.
"Winners in a further six categories, including Queensland's highest achieving student, will be announced in February."
