Shellharbour City Council is moving ahead with the Yellow Rock Road Upgrade in early 2026 and is inviting residents to learn more about the project in drop-in sessions in December.
The improvements will upgrade Yellow Rock Road from the Illawarra Highway to Araluen Terrace through work Stages 1 and 2, helping increase road safety, pedestrian access and connectivity for the growing community.
"We're excited to get this vital upgrade of Yellow Rock Road underway," Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said.
"As our city continues to grow, it's imperative that our infrastructure keeps pace and can match the needs of our community."
"Once complete, Yellow Rock Road will be safer and more reliable for everyone who drives, walks or cycles in the area."

- Improved pedestrian paths and crossings
- Kerb, gutter and stormwater improvements
- Better on-street parking and accessibility
Residents are invited to drop-in sessions to learn more about the project on Wednesday 10 December at 3pm and 5pm at Centenary Hall, Albion Park.
These sessions offer an opportunity to meet the project team, explore the full design plans and share feedback or highlight any access needs.

"As we enter 2026, these drop-in sessions are an important step in working with our community to ensure the project runs as smoothly as possible and meets people's expectations," Mayor Homer said.
Council is currently in the tender phase to appoint a construction contractor. Once the tender process is complete, another community session will be held early next year ahead of construction.
