The Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is inviting feedback on the draft Local Development Plans (LDPs) chapter of the WA Planning Manual, with consultation open until 28 July 2026.
The WA Planning Manual is resource published by the WAPC that brings together planning guidance, templates and procedures to support consistent decision‑making across Western Australia.
Local Development Plans play a key role in guiding and coordinating development outcomes on specific sites, including constrained, complex or smaller areas.
Current LDP practices vary across Western Australia, creating inconsistency in how plans are prepared, applied and reviewed by different local governments.
The draft LDP chapter aims to address these issues by providing clearer, more consistent and up‑to‑date guidance on the role and use of LDPs within local planning schemes.
The guidance aligns with current planning requirements and reflects proposed updates to the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.
Overall, the draft chapter aims to improve certainty and transparency for local governments, industry practitioners, developers and the community, supporting more consistent planning outcomes across the State.
Consultation is open from 2 June to 28 July 2026 via the Have your Say WA website .
