Young Territorians Break Barriers for NT Youth Week '26

The CLP Finocchiaro Government is investing $108,500 to deliver NT Youth Week local events and activities.

The theme for 2026, 'Breaking Barriers', was selected by NT Youth Week Ambassadors encouraging young people to challenge limitations, overcome obstacles and shape their own futures.

NT Youth Week will be from 2nd to the 15th of April bringing hundreds of young Territorians together to build skills, leadership and community connections.

The CLP Finocchiaro Government is supporting young people to connect, lead and celebrate their achievements during NT Youth Week for 2026 with the announcement of this year's theme and the successful recipients of Youth Week grants.

NT Youth Week will run from Thursday 2 April to Wednesday 15 April 2026, showcasing the ideas, talents and leadership of young Territorians through events and activities across the Territory.

The theme for 2026, 'Breaking Barriers', was selected by NT Youth Week Ambassadors and encourages young people to challenge limitations, overcome obstacles and shape their own futures.

Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality Jinson Charls said, "the theme Breaking Barriers reflects the determination of young people across the Territory to challenge expectations, overcome obstacles and create positive change."

The NT Government is investing $108,500 to deliver Youth Week in including the ambassador program and $57,200 in grants to deliver local community events.

"These grants empower community organisations to deliver events that bring young people together, build confidence and create opportunities for young Territorians to learn new skills and connect with their communities," said Mr Charls.

Twenty organisations across the Barkly, Big Rivers, Central Australia, East Arnhem, Greater Darwin and Top End regions, and will receive funding to host youth-focused events that are safe, inclusive, and drug- and alcohol-free.

Other funded projects include barista workshops, youth markets, creative arts programs and community events, supporting young people to learn new skills, connect with peers and celebrate youth leadership across the Territory.

Preparations are now underway for dozens of community-led events across the Territory, with the NT Youth Week calendar of events to be released in late March.
