Swan Hill Rural City Council is extending heartfelt thanks to the many young people who shared their creative and thoughtful ideas as part of the development of the Community Vision and Council Plan 2025–2029.

Council's Mayor, Cr Stuart King said contributions received were nothing short of inspiring, demonstrating the creativity, passion and community spirit of our younger residents.

"Suggestions received will help to shape a Council plan that reflects what matters most to the people who live, work, and grow in our region.

"Some standout ideas included calls to improve safety at local sporting grounds, expand food and retail offerings, enhance recreational facilities, and create more inviting community spaces such as parks and shopping centres.

"From imaginative additions like arcades and LEGO stores to practical proposals for more public toilets and smarter urban planning, young people across the municipality showed they are deeply engaged in the future of their community," Cr King said.

Cr King said Council was proud to amplify young voices in its planning process.

"It's clear that our young people are observant, innovative and genuinely care about the wellbeing of our community. We're grateful for their input and excited to incorporate their ideas into a shared vision that benefits all residents," he said.

Swan Hill Rural City Council looks forward to continuing this important conversation with the community as the 2025–2029 Council Plan continue to take shape.

Council is currently showcasing some of the submissions from local young people in it's Splatt Street office Customer Service area.
