Young people interested in stepping into a leadership position can now apply to become The Hills Shire's next Youth Ambassador.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said the 12-month Sydney Hills Youth Ambassador Program is an exciting opportunity for young residents to make their mark on their local community.

"The Sydney Hills Youth Ambassador Program empowers young people to have a real voice in shaping our community," Mayor Byrne said.

"Our Youth Ambassadors not only represent Council at community events and forums, but also help shape programs, develop and deliver their own initiatives, and support their peers through meaningful community engagement.

"If you're passionate about your community, eager to meet new people, and ready to step up as a leader, I encourage you to apply and help shape the future of The Hills."

Across the 12-month term, Youth Ambassadors will:

  • Represent Council at community events, functions, and forums
  • be an active member of The Hills Youth Army
  • champion a youth-focused initiative that makes a positive impact in The Hills and
  • advocate for young people by identifying community needs and representing their voices directly to Council to inform decisions and initiatives.

Applicants must be aged between 15 and 24 and live in The Hills Shire.

Nominations close on Thursday, 18 June 2026. The term runs from July 2026 to July 2027.
