Youth Arrested for Aggravated Burglaries in Eastern Suburbs

Detectives have arrested a youth overnight as part of Operation Fortress, which is tackling burglary and vehicle crime across the Eastern Suburbs.

Investigators spotted a Ford Futura sedan speeding along Burwood Highway about 1.40am.

Police followed the vehicle into Pippin Court before attempting to intercept the vehicle.

The Ford crashed into a fence on Pippin Court trying the evade officers.

It's alleged the driver rammed a police vehicle before fleeing the scene on foot towards Burwood Highway.

Police cordoned then area and with assistance from police airwing and canine units, the youth was located hiding in the front yard of a home in Holland Road.

The 17-year-old Richmond boy is currently assisting police with their enquiries.

No one was injured during the incident.

It's alleged the youth was wanted by police in relation to a number of alleged aggravated burglaries and theft of motor vehicles in the Eastern suburbs over the past month.
