An in-principle enterprise agreement has been reached with the Australian Workers Union, Together Union and United Workers Union for youth detention workers, in line with the Government's central wages policy.
The safety of our youth detention workers is vitally important, and the agreement will support our workforce including through a retention payment for long-term employees.
The agreement also includes accelerated pay progressions and an increased operational allowance for workers, in line with wage increases.
The breakthrough marks a significant milestone in returning detention centres to normal operations.
After a decade of decline under the former Labor Government, the Crisafulli Government is delivering more staff and more capacity inside our youth detention system to ensure the safety of staff and to continue making Queensland safer.
