Youth survey launched for libraries strategy

A new Armidale Regional Libraries survey launched today turns the focus onto what local young people need and expect from their libraries.

The youth survey will be distributed to schools throughout the region but Council is hoping to hear from all young people to help shape the 21st Century Libraries Strategy.

“We’ve had tremendous feedback from the older age groups, with several hundred responses to a general community survey,” Councillor Debra O’Brien said.

“That gave us great insight to what they thought of current library facilities and services.

“The strategy will really benefit from further input from the Under 25s, who often have different needs or want to use the libraries in different ways.”

Cr O’Brien said the youth survey had a greater emphasis on new technology and services more likely to interest younger people.

The youth survey can be completed online on the 21st Century Libraries Strategy page on Council’s Your Say Armidale website.
