The cast and crew of Nillumbik Youth Theatre hopes everyone is ready to put on their blue suede shoes ahead of next month's performances of All Shook Up, an uplifting jukebox musical set to Elvis Presley's greatest hits.

Nillumbik Youth Theatre is run by Nillumbik Youth Productions (NYP), whose committee comprises young people from throughout the shire. The cast for this year's production includes approximately 30 young people aged 10–25.

Mayor Karen Egan, a Council representative on the Arts Advisory Committee, encouraged people of all ages to get along to the show.

"This year is the first time the NYP committee has run the entire program, and Council's Youth and Community Partnerships Unit is proud to support these talented and ambitious young people as they bring their production to life," she said.

"The play is inspired by the plot of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and promises to be a great experience for the whole family.

"Arts and culture are cornerstones of life in Nillumbik, and this is a shining example of how this tradition continues to thrive thanks to our younger residents," Cr Egan said.

The dedicated cast has rehearsed for more than six months to prepare for showtime. While newcomers have joined the team this year, some members have been involved in the annual production since 2014.

Tickets for All Shook Up are available now. The shows will be performed at Eltham College Performance Centre in Research on Thursday 19 September at 7pm; Friday 20 September at 7pm, and Saturday 21 September at 2pm and 7pm.
