$1.3M Boost for Vietnam Science, Tech Ties

Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

AVSTICI is a pilot initiative that promotes collaboration between Australian businesses, universities, industry partners and research institutes and their Vietnamese counterparts.

It supports joint research projects that build lasting science, technology and innovation linkages to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the 2 countries.

Projects must address one of these priority research areas:

  • new and renewable technologies
  • a sustainable blue economy
  • recycling and waste management.

Australian researchers can submit applications for grants in the range of $100,000 to $300,000 for the Australian component, excluding Vietnamese co-contributions. Projects may run for 24 to 36 months.

The governments of Australia and Vietnam jointly own the initiative. Each country administers its side of the program independently.

The program is an initiative under the Australia-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Our department will fund the Australian researchers. The Australian Academy of Science will administer the initiative on our behalf through a single competitive funding round.
