- McGowan Government working to prevent crime and strengthen community safety
- More than $2.7 million invested in community based crime prevention initiatives since coming to office
A further $1 million is being made available to community groups and local councils, as part of the McGowan Government's commitment to strengthen community safety.
Police Minister Michelle Roberts today launched the opening of the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Fund.
Local councils and not-for-profit community organisations can apply for grants of up to $25,000 for projects and initiatives aimed at reducing crime and violence in their communities.
Projects and initiatives which meet one or more of the following will be given priority:
- Prevention and early intervention to address the needs of children and families, including contributing to prevention and combating family violence;
- Reducing youth offending;
- Reducing Aboriginal offending and victimisation;
- Addressing and reducing drug and alcohol related crime; and
- Targeting priority crimes in Western Australia as identified.
Since coming to office, the McGowan Government has invested more than $2.7 million in community safety grants.
