A man has been arrested after allegedly driving at 100km/h in Doveton earlier this morning.
Casey Highway Patrol officers spotted a Subaru Liberty travelling at a fast rate of speed on Chestnut Road about 12.30am.
Officers attempted to intercept the vehicle which allegedly evaded police, continuing to drive before dumping the vehicle nearby.
The offender took off on foot through the Eumemmerring Creek Trail and with the assistance of the police Air Wing, the man was arrested.
He has since been charged with multiple traffic-related charges including dangerous driving while pursued by police, reckless conduct endanger serious injury, fail oral fluid test, unlicensed driving and use unregistered motor vehicle.
The 47-year-old Doveton man was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Dandenong Magistrates' Court later today.
The Subaru was impounded for a period of 28 days at a cost of $1112.
