Police have charged 11 people during a two-day police operation on the state's south coast this week.
In 2025, officers attached to South Coast Police District launched Operation Moto to combat offences related to stolen vehicles in the state's south coast area.
As a part of investigations, on Tuesday 5 August 2025, officers attached to South Coast Police District, with the assistance from officers attached to Wollongong Police District, Southern Region Operational Support Group, Traffic and highway Patrol Command and Dog Unit, launched a high-visibility operation under Operation Moto in the Shoalhaven areas.
The operation ran from Tuesday 5 August 2025 to Wednesday 6 August 2025, where police conducted 18 person searches, six vehicle searches and five drug detections. Police charged 11 people with various offences.
Incidents of note include:
- About 6pm on Tuesday 5 August 2025, police arrested a 24-year-old man, who was wanted on two outstanding warrants in relation to theft and assault offences. He was taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with shoplifting (two counts) and common assault. He was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Court 3 on Wednesday 6 August 2025.
- About 3.45pm on Tuesday 5 August 2025, officers attached to South Coast Police District were patrolling on Vendetta Street, Nowra, when they stopped a rider allegedly riding an unregistered motorcycle without wearing a helmet. The rider – an 18-year-old man – was taken to Nowra Police Station where he was charged with never licensed person drive vehicle on road, use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road, use uninsured motor vehicle on road, and motor bike rider (alone) not wear/secure fit approved helmet. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Nowra Local Court on Tuesday 26 August 2025.
