11 Countries' Diplomats to China Join International High-Level Steering Committee of Industrial Standards for Atmospheric Water Generation

The first meeting of International High-Level Steering Committee of Industrial Standards for Atmospheric Water Generation was held in Beijing from 2-3 November. 37 committee members consisting of diplomats of 11 Countries' to China and 23 Generals of China attended the meeting.

Dato' Sri Prof. NG, Chairman of the Committee explained that atmospheric water generation is a global emerging innovation & technology industry. However, the industry will face great challenges due to uneven international technical standards. Meanwhile, water scarcity and pollution issues are under global awareness. Atmospheric Water Generation has become an important initiate for sustainable development, thus formulation of its Industrial Standards is increasingly more necessary.

The establishment of the International High-Level Steering Committee aims to actively lead the formulation of Global Industrial Standards for Atmospheric Water Generation. This is essential to industrial development, technology advancement and standardized management of the global atmospheric water generation industry.

The Chinese Government has recently started the drafting of regulations on "Atmospheric water machines for household and similar purposes" (2018-1169T-QB). It shows high attention is being paid to the development of Atmospheric Water Generation Industry in China. The formulation of industrial standards will be a major part of it.

To strengthen discussion in science, policy and business aspects on standards formulation, the Committee invited high-level representatives from various countries, NGOs under the UN, diplomats to China, Academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, experts on environment and industry leaders.

The Committee was chaired by Dato' Sri Prof. NG Tat-yung with Vice-chairmen Datin' Sri Dr. NG Tsz-yan and MIAO Gengshu, who are members of International Steering Committee of High-Level International Conference on UN Water Action Decade. H.E. Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to China joined as a Vice-chairman and Ambassadors to China of Samoa, Palestine, Mongolia, Somalia, Micronesia, Nepal and Lesotho; 17 Lieutenant Generals of China; and 17 Major Generals joined as committee members.

In addition, several agreements of comprehensive strategic partnership were signed by Heaven Springs Group, a co-organiser of the meeting. One of its new partnerships is a development project of Fuel Cell Vehicle production base where atmospheric water generation system would be installed to generate atmospheric water for hydrogen production.
