Police have charged 12 people during a two-day cross-border operation targeting high risk domestic violence offenders across the Murray River Police District.
The 'DV Day of Action' ran from Wednesday 22 April 2026 until yesterday (Thursday 23 April 2026) and was led by Murray River Police District with assistance from Southern Region High Risk Offenders Team, Southern Region Enforcement Squad, Southern Region Operations Support Group, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, NSW Dog Unit and Victoria Police.
The following results were achieved;
12 people charged with domestic violence and police pursuit offences
2 prohibited weapons seized (including a knife)
3 premises searches
6 Apprehended Domestic Violence Order Compliance Checks conducted
2 Firearm Prohibition Order Person search
2 Firearm Prohibition Order Vehicle search
2 person Searches
2 Traffic infringement notices issued
1 move on order issued
Drugs and property alleged to have been stolen was also seized.
Notable incidents include;
About 1.10pm yesterday (Thursday 23 April 2026), police were conducting patrols of Wodonga Place, Albury when they spoke to a man and woman. Further inquiries revealed there was an ADVO in place. The 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station. He was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic violence) and will appear in Bail Division Court 5 today ( Friday 24 April 2025)
On Wednesday 22 April 2026, officers attached to Murray River Police District attended a home in North Albury, following a late report of an assault about 7pm on Sunday 19 April 2026, in which a 46-year-old man was allegedly punched to the face several times. The 44-year-old man was arrested and taken to Albury Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was refused bail and appeared in Bail Division Court 5 yesterday ( Thursday 23 April 2026), where he was formally refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Tuesday 12 May 2026.
The operation continues.
