$136B IDA Pipeline Poised to Boost NSW Investment

Property Council NSW Executive Director Anita Hugo said the strong levels of interest in the first round showed how powerful the IDA could be in unlocking private capital and driving productivity across the state.

"This is an extraordinary level of interest and a clear vote of confidence in NSW as a destination for major investment," Ms Hugo said.

"The IDA was designed to cut through red tape, coordinate agencies and accelerate complex, high-value projects, and this response shows investors are ready to get on with it.

"The creation of the IDA in this year's NSW Budget delivered on a key Property Council recommendation for a single, coordinated body to fast-track major projects, a reform we have championed through successive budget submissions.

"The inclusion of hotel projects with a $200 million threshold is another positive step that reflects our calls for more appropriate criteria to attract genuine investment and support the visitor economy," Ms Hugo said.

Ms Hugo said the next step was to make sure the IDA process moves swiftly and efficiently.

"The focus now must be on delivery. Speed and certainty in assessment will determine how quickly these projects translate into jobs, investment, and growth," she said.

The Property Council also urged the Government to broaden the IDA's remit beyond data centres, renewables, and hotels in future rounds.

"Sectors like industrial, retail, logistics and precinct development are crying out for the same streamlined approach," Ms Hugo said.

"The success of this first round shows there's huge potential to extend the IDA model into other parts of the economy that drive jobs, housing and infrastructure."

The Property Council will host the newly established Authority for its first public appearance at a panel event in Sydney on 14 November, where attendees will hear directly from the leaders charged with delivering this landmark productivity reform.

"The property industry is ready to partner with Government and the IDA to turn this momentum into real projects on the ground," Ms Hugo said.
