16 Charged in Townsville's Operation Xray Remix

Police from the Townsville Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) have concluded an extensive operation targeting dangerous drugs and unlawful weapons across the region, resulting in charges against 16 people.

Operation Xray Remix, ran from December 2024 to August 2025 and resulted in the execution of 11 search warrants at residential and commercial addresses across Townsville, with 16 people charged on a total of 423 offences.

During the operation, police seized approximately 16 kilograms of cannabis, $70,000 in Australian currency, 15 unlawful weapons and more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition.

Townsville TCS Officer in Charge, Senior Sergeant Adrian Rieck, said the outcome reflects a coordinated and sustained approach to drug enforcement and reducing the circulation of illegal weapons in our community.

"Operations of this scale require detailed intelligence gathering, planning and ongoing commitment from our officers. It is encouraging to see significant quantities of drugs, weapons and proceeds removed from our streets, reinforcing our focus on community safety," Senior Sergeant Rieck said.

A 30-year-old Heatley man was charged with 37 offences, including trafficking and supplying dangerous drugs, and is currently remanded in custody.

A 22-year-old Kirwan man was charged with 91 offences, including trafficking, possession and supply of dangerous drugs, and is due to appear in the Townsville District Court on 28 January 2026.

A 30-year-old Thuringowa Central man was charged with 79 offences, including trafficking, possession and supply of dangerous drugs, and is due to appear in the Moranbah District Court on 22 January 2026.

Senior Sergeant Rieck said the safety of our community remains our priority, and we will continue to identify and disrupt those bringing dangerous drugs and associated offending into Townsville.
