The Australian Research Council (ARC) today announced $18.4 million in funding for 16 new projects under the ARC's Discovery Indigenous scheme.
The ARC Discovery Indigenous scheme supports research programs led by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander researchers and builds the research capacity of higher degree students and early career researchers.
The successful projects will deliver outcomes in a wide range of areas, from developing culturally safe mental health treatments, to integrating Indigenous approaches to environmental care and biodiversity.
ARC Chief Executive Officer, Professor Ute Roessner, said the diversity of projects supported in this round will expand Indigenous knowledge systems by advancing Indigenous-led and focused research.
'Through the Discovery Indigenous scheme, the ARC plays a crucial role in supporting career pathways for emerging Indigenous researchers. We are investing in our future research leaders.'
