$2 million investment to extend Reclink National Program

The Australian Government is investing $2 million to extend the Reclink National Program to deliver sport and recreation activities to people who may miss out on the health benefits of regular physical activity.

The Government encourages people across Australia to be physically active no matter what their circumstances or ability. Australians love their sport. The physical and mental health benefits of being active are well known.

In the second half of 2019, Reclink delivered 55 sport and recreation programs across 25 locations, helping people achieve better health outcomes, build confidence and feel part of the community.

Reclink has a solid history of providing activities that reduce barriers to sports participation while promoting social inclusion and cohesion.

Reclink will receive $2 million to continue providing structured team-based and individual sport and recreation activities for people who may experience:

  • A high degree of socioeconomic disadvantage.
  • High levels of youth unemployment.
  • High levels of domestic and community violence.
  • Low sport and recreation participation rates.

This funding will also help Reclink work on new ways to deliver their activities because of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through the 2019-20 Budget, the Government has invested an additional $236 million in sport and physical activity including $23.6 million to address social inclusion.

We are building a more active Australia-more Australians, more active, more often.
