2023 Supporting people with cancer Grant initiative

Cancer Australia has announced the 2023 recipients of its Supporting people with cancer (SPWC) Grant initiative, established to support community initiatives to improve wellbeing and outcomes of people with cancer. Over 0.85 million dollars was awarded to eight community organisations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations to support people affected by cancer.

The grant recipients are:

  1. Moorditj Koort Aboriginal Corporation Yorga's Nyininy Wangkiny (Woman Sitting Talking) and Marmun's Nyininy Wangkiny (Men Sitting Talking) Cancer Prevention and Support.
  2. Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service - Yarnin' for Cancer Waluwin project.
  3. Ballarat and District Aboriginal Cooperative (BADAC) - BADAC Aboriginal Art Calendar project.
  4. Melanoma Patients Australia: Bridging the Great Melanoma Divide project
  5. ACON Health Limited: LGBTQ+ Cancer Information Resource
  6. Cancer Council Tasmania: Transport 2 Support
  7. Sisters' Cancer Support Group Inc.: "Culturally Appropriate Cancer Health Improvement" program for new CALD immigrants residing in Illawarra.
  8. Camp Quality: Addressing the gap: cancer education for children and young people aged 12-15" project.
