The Department of Communities supports eligible organisations and community groups through their sponsorship program. Their goal remains the same: to fund initiatives that improve the lives of Western Australians and deliver value to both the WA Government and wider community.
What's new?
Their new streamlined online application process includes a capped maximum funding amount of $20,000 (ex GST and subject to Director General discretion) per event or initiative to enable a broader cross-section of community organisations to apply for and receive support.
There will be two (2) sponsorship rounds per financial year. The main round (Round 1) and largest distribution of sponsorship funds will occur in July - August 2025, with a minor round (Round 2) in early 2026. This process will be facilitated by a panel comprising representatives from across Communities, who will objectively assess applications and administration of funds.
Key dates
- Round 1 applications open: 9 July 2025
- Round 1 applications close: 31 August 2025
- Applications will be considered for events or initiatives occurring in the 2025/2026 financial year.
- Please note – there will be a minor round (2) held in early 2026 (date TBC) for events later in the financial year or those still being planned.
