The Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2025 Tasmanian Emerging Director Award is Mr Gideon Cordover GAICD.
The Emerging Director Award recognises excellence in corporate governance and ethical leadership, and a strong commitment to professional development.
Mr Cordover has made an outstanding contribution applying his governance knowledge to his board and other professional and volunteer roles across Tasmania's business, community and for-purpose sectors, and he's provided inspirational leadership through his mentoring and support of other aspiring directors.
Gideon has been a member of the ABC Advisory Council, and has sat on the boards of Tasmanian Youth Broadcasters, the Glenorchy Community Fund, and the Green Institute. He is currently a director with the Southern Employment and Training Network, which is part of the Tasmanian Government's Regional Jobs Hub Network.
Gideon has worked for Anglicare's Social Action Research Centre, the Heart Foundation Tasmania, and is currently Vice President of Gymnastics Tasmania. His latest business venture is as executive director of UpScale Solutions, a tech startup that develops AI-enhanced custom software for businesses and not-for-profits.
Gideon has also been a Kingborough Councillor since 2019.
AICD Tasmania Division President Katrena Stephenson congratulated Mr Cordover on receiving the Emerging Director Award and said Gideon's strong commitment to good governance and the passion he brings to his leadership roles was inspiring.
Gideon will receive his Award at the AICD Annual Awards presentation, to be attended by the Governor of Tasmania, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, in Hobart on Wednesday 17 September.
