The 2026 Corangamite Business Awards will be launched on Wednesday 18 February, with nominations opening on Monday 16 February.

Mayor Kate Makin said this year's program had been updated following strong feedback from the 2025 awards.

"Last year, Council held the awards in response to public demand during the Grow and Prosper Corangamite Economy and Prosperity Framework consultation.

"The awards got a really great response, and are a great opportunity to recognize the business community's huge contribution to the Shire.

"Based on what we heard last year, in 2026 anyone can now nominate a business in addition to self‑nominations.

"People can nominate up to three businesses, and all nominees will be contacted and invited to submit a submission.

"Nominations close Monday 16 March, with final business submissions due Monday 30 March.

The 2026 Awards will feature six categories, including two important updates:

  • The former Growers and Producers category has been expanded to Growers, Producers and Agribusiness, recognising the full breadth of the agricultural sector.
  • A new category, Trade Business of the Year, has been introduced to celebrate excellence across local trades and industry, including construction, manufacturing, electrical, plumbing, wholesale and retail trade.

2026 Award Categories

  • Growers, Producers and Agribusiness
  • Outstanding Customer Service
  • Circular Solutions
  • Future Shapers
  • Tourism
  • Trade Business of the Year

"The celebrations will culminate in the 2026 Corangamite Business Awards Night on Wednesday 17 June.

Council encourages residents, customers, visitors and business supporters to get involved by nominating a business that deserves to be recognised for its contribution, innovation and excellence.

Details of the categories and how to nominate a business are on the Council website at corangamite.vic.gov.au/Awards.

Cr Makin said businesses could get help with their applications by calling Council's Economy and Prosperity team on 5593 7100.
