Cessnock City Council is calling on passionate young people aged 11 to 18 who live, work or study in the Cessnock region to apply for their 2026 Youth Ambassador Program.

The program provides a unique platform for young people to have their voices heard, influence local decision-making and help shape the future of youth services and initiatives across the region.

Ambassadors will have the opportunity to share feedback on Council's youth events and initiatives, raise important youth issues with Council and the wider community, take part in leadership and personal development activities, and connect with like-minded peers.

Cessnock City Mayor Daniel Watton is encouraging local youth to get involved.

"Young people are an important part of our community, and their input helps Council better understand the needs, interests and concerns of the next generation," said Clr Watton.

"The Youth Ambassador Program is a meaningful way for young people to connect with peers who share their passions, collaborate directly with different areas of Council, and champion the positive impact youth can make, and I encourage those interested to apply today!"

Applications are open now and will close on Friday 17 November 2025.

Interested young people are encouraged to complete the Expression of Interest form available via Council's website. Selection is merit-based, and successful applicants will be contacted to confirm their participation. Parent or guardian consent is required for all applicants.
