2026 Citizen Of Year Awards Nominations Now Open

Port Macquarie Hastings Council is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Citizen of the Year Awards, celebrating individuals, groups and organisations who make a real difference in our community.

Mayor Adam Roberts said "our region is full of extraordinary people – volunteers, mentors, community leaders, and quiet achievers – who go above and beyond to support others, strengthen communities, and make the Port Macquarie Hastings region a better place for everyone.

"These awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise and thank them for their contributions."

Nominations are now open across three categories:

  • Citizen of the Year – Recognising individuals making an outstanding contribution to the local community.
  • Young Citizen of the Year – Celebrating young people aged 16–25 who lead with passion and inspire others through their actions.
  • Community Spirit Award – For individuals, groups or organisations that bring people together, foster connection, and strengthen community spirit

"Do you know someone in your neighbourhood, workplace, school or sporting club whose efforts make a real difference?" Mayor Roberts said.

"Now is the time to nominate them. Whether it's volunteering behind the scenes, leading a project, or simply showing kindness and care to others, these contributions deserve to be celebrated."
