Port Macquarie Hastings Council is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Citizen of the Year Awards, celebrating individuals, groups and organisations who make a real difference in our community.
Mayor Adam Roberts said "our region is full of extraordinary people – volunteers, mentors, community leaders, and quiet achievers – who go above and beyond to support others, strengthen communities, and make the Port Macquarie Hastings region a better place for everyone.
"These awards are a wonderful opportunity to recognise and thank them for their contributions."
Nominations are now open across three categories:
- Citizen of the Year – Recognising individuals making an outstanding contribution to the local community.
- Young Citizen of the Year – Celebrating young people aged 16–25 who lead with passion and inspire others through their actions.
- Community Spirit Award – For individuals, groups or organisations that bring people together, foster connection, and strengthen community spirit
"Do you know someone in your neighbourhood, workplace, school or sporting club whose efforts make a real difference?" Mayor Roberts said.
"Now is the time to nominate them. Whether it's volunteering behind the scenes, leading a project, or simply showing kindness and care to others, these contributions deserve to be celebrated."
