Applications are open for grants supporting initiatives that empower young people and strengthen community participation.
Applications are now open for the 2026-27 WA Youth Engagement Grants program, with $220,000 available to support projects that engage and empower young people across Western Australia.
Local governments, community organisations and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) can apply for funding to deliver initiatives for young people aged 10 to 25 years.
Grants of up to $5,000 are available for short-term activities, while grants of up to $10,000 are available for longer-term strategic initiatives that involve broader community participation.
Projects must align with the WA Youth Action Plan 2024-2027 - Koorlangka Bidi by establishing a Youth Advisory Council or implementing a local youth strategy or action plan.
The grants support initiatives that strengthen young people's participation in community life, build leadership and life skills, and create opportunities for young people to contribute to decisions that affect them.
Last year, nearly $220,000 was awarded to 26 organisations across Western Australia to deliver projects that strengthened community connections and supported positive outcomes for young people.
Funded projects included the Peel Volunteer Resource Centre's Youth Advisory Group, which supports young people to shape local volunteering initiatives, and Joombarn-buru Aboriginal Corporation's Drive and Thrive project, which helps young Aboriginal people gain a driver's licence, develop essential life skills and build vocational pathways.
The Shire of East Pilbara also received funding for a youth leadership program that supports young people to develop skills, build confidence and strengthen connections within their communities.
Applications for the 2026-27 WA Youth Engagement Grants Program close at 3pm on Tuesday 10 November 2026.
