The Finocchiaro Government is proud to announce the rollout of the Men's Places Grants a $260,000 investment is delivering 17 community-led initiatives tailored to meet local needs across the Northern Territory.
This program empowers men and boys by strengthening wellbeing, cultural connection, leadership, and safety ensuring a better life now and for our kids in the future.
The investment includes programs in every region to ensure all men and boys have access to positive and engaging programs to encourage happier and healthier lives.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government is proud to announce the commencement of 17 community-led programs under the new Men's Places Grants initiative.
With a total investment of nearly $260,000, these grants are designed to support men and boys across the Northern Territory by strengthening wellbeing, cultural connection, leadership, and safety.
Delivered by the Department of People, Sport and Culture the program provides targeted funding for locally designed initiatives that respond to the unique needs of communities from the Top End to Central Australia.
Minister for Youth, Seniors and Equality, Jinson Charls, said supporting men's wellbeing is fundamental to building strong families and safer communities.
"These programs are designed and led by the communities themselves, ensuring they are culturally appropriate, locally relevant, and focused on what actually works," Minister Charls said.
"From yarning circles and cultural camps to practical workshops and creative programs, these initiatives are creating safe spaces for men and boys to connect, learn, and support one another."
General Manager from Bikes Mwerre Victoria Hernandez highlights the importance of the grants to support wellbeing, positivity and connection.
"The Men's Places grant will help Bikes Mwerre create positive and supportive spaces for First Nations men to connect through mountain biking, time on Country, skill-building and shared experience. The program places a strong focus on strengthening relationships between caregivers and the young people in their lives, while supporting wellbeing, confidence and positive community connection through bikes."
Programs will run for durations ranging from eight weeks to 12 months. These 17 projects will be delivered across the Barkly, Big Rivers, Central Australia, East Arnhem, Top End, and Tiwi Islands, as well as the Darwin, Palmerston, and Litchfield regions.
The Men's Places Grants program remains a foundation of the CLP Government's commitment to improving the lives of all Territorians through community-driven solutions.
