$275 Million in Additional U.S. Military Assistance for Ukraine 10 December

Department of State

In recent weeks the Kremlin has increased its attacks against critical infrastructure, attacks that are causing widespread suffering for the people of Ukraine. But as winter deepens, so does our support for Ukraine. Today, the United States continues to support Ukraine with additional military assistance to help defend itself from Russia's ongoing brutal and unprovoked assault.

Pursuant to a delegation of authority from the President, today I am authorizing our twenty-seventh drawdown of U.S. arms and equipment for Ukraine since August 2021. This $275 million drawdown will provide Ukraine with new capabilities to boost its air defenses, as well as additional munitions and critical equipment that Ukraine is using so effectively to defend itself on the battlefield. This drawdown will bring the total U.S. military assistance for Ukraine to an unprecedented $20 billion since the beginning of the Administration.

The United States will continue to work closely with more than 40 allies and partners in support of the people of Ukraine as they defend their freedom and independence with extraordinary courage and boundless determination. We will continue to support Ukraine for as long as it takes, so it can continue to defend itself and be in the strongest possible position at the negotiating table when the time comes.

We stand United with Ukraine.
