The $30 million Mega Saturday draw reeled in 18 division one winning entries across Australia, each collecting a whopping $1.6 million!
Seven of the entries landed in New South Wales, three each in Victoria, Queensland, and Western Australia, as well as one each in South Australia and the ACT.
In addition, more than $38 million was shared across divisions two to six.
From meat tray to millions
Starting off in New South Wales, an Oakhurst man burst into the year as a newly minted millionaire when his first-ever Saturday Lotto ticket scored division one.
"I saw on the news this morning that there had been 18 division one winners in the draw, but I hadn't even looked at my ticket," he explained.
"The last thing I won was a meat tray!
"This is actually the first time I've played Lotto. I play Powerball every now and then when the jackpot gets big.
"This will allow us to pay off the mortgage. I might also get the golf clubs I've been wanting to get. We might even do a trip to Hawaii."
Add on a couple more zeros
The excitement continued into Victoria where a South Melbourne man mistook his $1.6 million TattsLotto win for $16. He was flabbergasted when his true windfall was revealed.
"I usually check my weekly TattsLotto ticket around 10pm on a Saturday night. But this time, I was thinking to myself, 'Well, I haven't had a call yet, so I guess I didn't win division one'," he shared.
"So I opened up my ticket and looked at it. Holy sh**!
"At first I thought I'd won $16, but then I noticed a few more digits and commas.
"I couldn't sleep after that. I just kept wondering if it was real."
Newfound millionaire at the nation's heart
Across to the ACT, a Gunghalin man was grinning from ear to ear when we called to confirm his $1.6 million Saturday Lotto win.
"I checked the ticket early this morning, but I couldn't believe it," he chuckled.
"I've checked it constantly ever since.
"I'm actually at work now, but I have a smile on my face and this will just make life a bit easier.
"You have no idea what this means to me, but I've yet to decide exactly what I'll do with the prize."
North Queensland syndicate snatch
Of the 18 division one wins, five were syndicate entries, granting dreams for 70 syndicate members - including three Townsville friends.
The North Queensland trio are eager to pocket their $1.6 million Saturday Gold Lotto win.
"There's three of us in the group. I play all the time, but the other day I convinced my mates to get involved. I said, 'you've got to be in this'," one of the syndicate members said.
"I can't wait to call them now. This will mean a lot to them.
"We'll each get over half a million dollars! It just gives us breathing space."
