36 Charged in Brisbane Safe Policing Blitz

North Brisbane District (NBD) police have charged 36 people with multiple offences, including unlawful possession of weapons, in a policing blitz across the Gateway as part of Operation Brisbane Safe on June 12.

Officers from NBD Tactical Crime Squad (TCS), Highway Patrol, and general duties joined forces to target property offences and knife crime.

Throughout the operation, police conducted 47 wandings (detecting one flick knife), 66 street checks, 396 random breath tests and three random drug tests (detecting 5 people driving under the influence), and issued 29 traffic infringement notices.

During the operation, Boondall Tactical Crime Squad charged a man with 11 offences including unlawful possession of a weapon following a stolen vehicle interception in Kedron.

Officers detected a Kia alleged to have been stolen from an Axis Court, Burpengary, address between May 25 to June 4.

Around 9:30pm, police followed the sedan to a Gympie Road car park in Kedron, where they intercepted the vehicle and arrested a 27-year-old man.

It will be alleged the man reversed into the police car before surrendered for arrest without further incident.

Police will further allege a search of the vehicle located a bag with a home-made firearm, ammunition, drugs and drug implements.

A 27-year-old man was charges with two counts each of possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and cannabis), and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, driving of motor vehicle without a licence, unlawful possession of a category H weapon (hand gun), authority required to possess explosives (ammunition), possessing relevant substances (4-hydroxybutanoic acid), offence to possess S4 medicine (pregabalin), unlawful possession of suspected stolen property (clothing and cosmetics), fail to properly dispose of needle and syringe (hypodermic syringe and needle).

He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 14.

Separately, TCS officers attended a Nevitt Street address in Stafford to conduct a search warrant in relation to a property offence investigation.

When officers arrested a teenage boy, it will be alleged two other people at the residence attempted to obstruct the arrest and assaulted the officers.

The officers received medical treatment for minor injuries.

A 14-year-old Stafford boy has been charged 46 offences relating to property crimes across Brisbane including 16 counts of face masked with intent to commit indictable offence, eight counts of enter dwelling with intent at night, seven counts each of enter premises and commit indictable offence by break and wilful damage, three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count each of attempted unlawful entry of vehicle, unlawful entry of vehicle, obstruct police officer and stealing.

He is expected to reappear before Brisbane Children's Court on June 24

A 16-year-old Stafford girl has been charged with three counts of face disguised with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, and one count each of enter premises with intent to commit indicatable offence, obstruct police officer and serious assault of a police officer.

The girl appeared before Brisbane Children's Court on June 13.

A 56-year-old Stafford man has been charged with one count each of assault police office, unlawful entry of a vehicle, and serious assault police officer.

He is expected to reappear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 24.

At 6pm, during a wanding operation at a Chermside public transport hub, officers from Hendra station charged a 41-year-old Windsor man with one count of possession of knife in a public place (flick knife). He is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on July 18.
