495 NEXT Project advances with strong local support

With affirmed support from local government partners, our 495 Express Lanes Northern Extension Project is advancing on schedule.

This week, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors gave their vote of confidence in the 495 NEXT Project, citing reduced congestion, new travel choices, and job creation as key factors behind their support of the project, as well as the project's function as a critical link in the future phasing of Maryland's American Legion Bridge I-270 to I-70 Relief Plan.

495 NEXT will extend the northbound 495 Express Lanes 3.2 km (2mi) towards the Maryland border, including new, improved connections at the Dulles Toll Road and George Washington Memorial Parkway. The process to select a design-build contractor continues and the environmental assessment for the project is nearing conclusion.
