What an incredible weekend this has been. Showcasing volunteering at its best!!

On Saturday, 1 October 2022, the Carisbrook Football and Netball Club hosted their annual Best and Fairest Awards Day. Normally all the energy and action would be outside on the footy oval or the netball courts. Saturday, however, all the energy and action was in the clubroom!

Highlighted exactly what volunteering is – bringing the whole of community together, across all ages, pursuing a common purpose and a common goal. The energy and vibe in the clubroom was electrifying. Watching the young people receiving awards, being rewarded for their hard work and commitment, and then also receiving recognition for their excellence as athletes. Coaches and parents being recognised for their effort in enabling our young people to do what they love best, playing sport.

Any competition is about winning. This is also true in sport. The teams at the Carisbrook Football and Netball Club had some spectacular wins. Participating in a sport, being an athlete, also develops life skills which you do not even realise at the time. Developing self-discipline, what it means to be a team player, following rules, a will to aspire and achieve. Participation creates friendships and allegiances that last a lifetime.

The Carisbrook Football and Netball Club is a fantastic addition to the fabric of our society. This unifies and identifies us as a community. The Committee, under the dynamic and innovative leadership of the President, Troy Driscoll is going from strength to strength.

The Carisbrook Football and Netball Club President was awarded lifelong membership to the club in recognition of his commitment and leadership role at the club.

Congratulations to the team!!

The next Carisbrook Community Conversation will be on 17 November 2022 at 7pm at the Fire Station in Carisbrook – all welcome!
