The Minns Labor Government is today investing more than $63 million in critical infrastructure like schools, roads and new emergency services across Western Sydney, better connecting housing growth with the infrastructure to support it.
The funding, delivered through the Western Sydney Growth Areas Special Infrastructure Contributions (SIC) program, will support critical infrastructure projects in the North and South-West Growth Areas.
The former Liberal Government pushed thousands of new homes into Western Sydney without building the roads, schools and other essential infrastructure that families need. After a decade of neglect, this funding will finally help close the gap.
Funded projects include local road upgrades, and land to support a new fire station as well:
- $10 million for land acquisition towards the Hambledon Road North Extension, Tallawong
- $5.6 million for construction of The Water Lane Road, Box Hill
- $20 million for land acquisition to support schools in the South West growth area
- $3.5 million for land acquisition towards a new Fire Station at Box Hill
- $9.5 million for land acquisition towards the Rickard Ingleburn Intersection Road Upgrade, Leppington
- $2.6 million for planning and design of Terry Road Upgrade, Box Hill
- $6 million for planning and design of Raby Road and Devonshire Road Extension, Leppington
- $6 million for planning and design of Windsor Road and Otago Street Signalised Intersection, Vineyard.
These projects will support around 125,000 new homes over the next 15 years and will be delivered by 30 June 2029 and are funded through developer contributions collected under the SIC program.
This funding is in addition to the government's track record investing in and delivering billions of dollars of infrastructure and services needed to support Western Sydney's growth and build stronger communities.
This is all part of the Minns Government's plan to build a better and fairer NSW with more homes and services, so young people, families and downsizers have somewhere to live in the communities they choose.
