Following the Albanese Government investment of $6 million to secure the future of the Marrickville Golf Club, Inner West Council will partner with the club to commence the design process.

The Marrickville Golf Club is a much-loved community asset and sporting precinct and one of the most precious areas of open space in the Inner West.

The clubhouse is a community hub that hosts a vast array of events and gatherings for local organisations but is desperately in need of an upgrade.

The $6 million investment from the Albanese Government will ensure a full renovation of the clubhouse, including improved accessibility, modern amenities, and a range of other improvements.

The club and course already host a huge range of sporting, cultural and live entertainment activities which will be expanded following the long-awaited renovation.

Following the announcement of the Federal Government Grant, Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne tabled a resolution for the Council to fund the design of the renovation in order to expedite the process.

Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne said, "Marrickville Golf Club is the people's course, more accessible and affordable than any other golf course in Australia.

"The clubhouse itself is in desperate need of renovation, and we couldn't be more grateful to the Albanese Government for stepping in and securing its future. Because this project is so important, the Council is funding the design of the renovation now so that we can see even greater use of the club and course for entertainment, sport and recreation as soon as possible."

President of Marrickville Golf, Sporting and Community Club, Andrew Tighe said; "This is a very exciting time for the club.

"This grant will enable us to undertake some great upgrades to the facilities that the club provides to the community.

"We have always been a community minded, environmentally responsible, culturally aware club with 100% community access, and an ambitious agenda of improvements. This grant will allow us to welcome our community well into the future."
