75 people have been arrested during a week-long operation aimed at reducing the number of alleged offenders with outstanding warrants across the Southern Region of NSW.
Operation Persistence Regional concluded on Friday 19 August 2022 and was aimed at locating and arresting alleged offenders wanted on outstanding warrants.
The week of action saw local police assisted by the Southern Region Operations teams conduct door knocks across the Southern Police Districts, with a focus on persons wanted on outstanding warrants in NSW, ACT and Victoria.
During the operation, 75 people were arrested, with 115 warrants executed and six alleged offenders extradited.
The warrants related to domestic violence, drug supply, stealing, drug supply, resisting arrests and sexual assault offences.
Of note:
- Three men were extradited from Victoria and charged over outstanding warrants. A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with sexual assault offences, to appear before Deniliquin Local Court on Tuesday 13 September 2022.
- A 31-year-old man was charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic), resist officer in execution of duty, and resist or hinder police officer in the execution of duty. He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court on Tuesday 20 September 2022.
A 44-year-old man was also arrested and charged with drug offences. He appeared in Albury Local Court on Tuesday 16 August 2022.
Operations Manager, Detective Acting Superintendent Darren Kelly, has thanked the community for their assistance, with a number of arrests resulting from information reported to Crime Stoppers.
"It is through that information that police can act and bring alleged offenders to justice."
"We will continue to target people wanted on outstanding warrants," said Det Acting Superintendent Kelly.
