The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has welcomed 79 new officers into its ranks, following the graduation of the latest cohort from the Brisbane Academy.
This group is the first of more than twelve that are planned to graduate this year.
Building on the achievements of 2025, which saw nearly 1,200 constables sworn in, the QPS remains steadfast in its commitment to bolstering the frontline and ensuring the safety of Queensland communities.
The first graduating class of 2026 come from a diverse range of professional backgrounds including aviation, childcare and real estate. They will be stationed across the state from Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast to Mossman in the Far North, ready to serve and protect their communities.
Commissioner of Police, Steve Gollschewski APM congratulated the newest officers on their graduation from the Academy.
"Our newest Constables will have a career that makes a positive difference to the lives of others," Commissioner Gollschewski said.
"Joining the blue family is more than a career choice, it's a commitment to teamwork and being part of a community".
"Queenslanders can be assured that these new officers are ready to support their communities with integrity, respect and courage".
Gold Coast volunteer Surf Lifesaver, Constable Sophie Christie said, she felt it was an obvious career move to go from the boat to the beat.
"I wanted to continue to help people and I wanted my work to have a meaningful impact to Queensland," Constable Christie said.
"Policing ticked all of those boxes for me, I just can't wait to get out there and make a difference in people's lives."
Constable Christie is being deployed to South Brisbane District and is excited to return to the area where she grew up.
The Commissioner's Executive Award honours exceptional leadership, achievement, and commitment to community service. For meritorious recipient, Constable Noah Langley, it was his lifelong desire to serve others that inspired him to consider a policing career.
"I could see the tangible impact that policing had on vulnerable members of the community, and coming from a chaplaincy background that valued strong communication skills, empathy and service to others, that maybe I could do that too," Constable Langley said.
"I was also drawn to a diverse career that could offer variety and where no two days were the same."
Constable Langley will be deployed in the Far Northern Region.
"I'm heading to Tully Station. The lifelong friendships I have made with recruits and facilitators is something I will never forget."
"As I embark on a new chapter in Tully, I know I can always look back with appreciation at what we achieved here together."
