The Australian Research Council (ARC) today welcomed 90 new members to the ARC College of Experts commencing in 2026. With returning members, the College now comprises 416 experts who will help shape the future of Australian research through their leadership and commitment.
The ARC College of Experts continues to play a pivotal role in supporting research excellence, integrity and innovation across Australia's research sector. College members are entrusted with the responsibility of evaluating grant proposals, moderating assessments, and recommending projects for funding - ensuring that ARC-funded research delivers meaningful outcomes for the Australian community.
ARC CEO Professor Ute Roessner reflected on the significance of the College's work and the value of its diverse membership.
'It is a privilege to welcome our new College members for the first time. I am inspired by the breadth of expertise and commitment within our community. Our members are at the heart of the ARC's mission - bringing rigour, fairness and insight to the competitive grants process,' Professor Roessner said.
'This year's College brings together researchers from a wide range of disciplines, career stages and institutions. Their collective knowledge and experience strengthen our ability to support research that benefits all Australians.
'ARC College members are internationally recognised leaders in their fields. Their willingness to contribute to the ARC and the broader research landscape is a testament to the strength and collegiality of Australia's research community. Together, we are fostering excellence and driving positive change.'
The ARC would like to thank the outgoing College of Experts members for their invaluable service and commitment to the peer review process, which underpins the integrity and impact of Australian research.
