A Bigger, Better Football Club For The West

Families in Albion will be able to rely on great local sporting facilities, with a re-elected Andrews Labor Government to deliver $300,000 towards the Western Eagles Football Club.

Right now, despite record numbers at the club including a growing women’s team, the Eagles are unable to train or play on their grounds at night.

That’s why funding from a re-elected Labor Government will deliver brand-new LED lighting on the club’s main pitch, while also moving and reinstalling the current lighting onto the second pitch.

With these upgrades from Labor, local clubs – and this local community – will have the great sporting facilities they deserve.

The commitment builds on the Andrews Labor Government’s investment in local and community sport, including the recently announced $250,000 for Errington Reserve and $250,00 for new lighting at the St Albans Saints’ Churchill Reserve.

While the Liberals cut funding for hospitals and schools, and closed TAFE campuses – only Labor will invest in the projects our community really needs.

The Andrews Labor Government has made the biggest investment in grassroots sporting opportunities in Victoria’s history, with $420 million dedicated to community sports.

As noted by Minister for Sport John Eren

"Community sports is all about bringing people together. With this investment, we’ll help make local sporting clubs – and this local community– stronger than ever."

"A re-elected Labor Government will make sure the Albion community has the sporting facilities it needs."

As noted by Member for St Albans Natalie Suleyman

"This upgrade will mean that day and night, the Western Eagles will have the facilities they deserve."

"Whether it’s hospitals, schools, upgraded roads or new sporting facilities, only Labor can be trusted to deliver for local families."
