Accidental discharge of firearm at Childers

A male sergeant has sustained a gunshot wound following an accidental discharge during routine firearm training at a Childers facility around 10am Thursday April 27.

Initial information indicates the officer, an instructor, sustained a single gunshot wound to the calf following an accidental discharge by another officer during a live-fire training session.

He was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and is currently in a stable condition.

Support is being provided to both officers and their colleagues and families.

The North Coast Region will investigate the incident and Workplace Health and Safety Queensland have been advised.
